A research group led by Professor Ikuo Kimura, and researcher Hidenori Shimizu, Graduate School of Biostudies, Kyoto University, and, and Associate Professor Junki Miyamoto, Graduate School of Agriculture, Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, in collaboration with Professor Shinji Nakaoka, Faculty of Advanced Life Science, Hokkaido University, Invited Teacher Akari Matsuki, and Doctoral course Student Ryo Akashi, Division of Life Science, Graduate School of Life Science, Hokkaido University, have discovered that the human commensal bacterium S. salivarius may inhibit sugar-induced obesity.
