Overview of Research and Education

Research Contents: Biological system is the typical example of the general concept of supramolecule, where the numerous functions are originated from the complex interactions among the biologically active molecules, cells, tissues and organs. As for specific biological issues, we would like to promote research to determine the cause of neuronal cell death caused by protein aggregates/condensates associated with neurodegenerative diseases such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and glaucoma, and to elucidate the cytoprotective role played by non-membrane organelle aggregates. In addition to cultured cell lines, phenotypic and lifespan analysis of C. elegans is also conducted.
